🔹 Main differences:
✔️ Compatibility: The GT DD Pro is the only option if you want to play on PlayStation (e.g. Gran Turismo 7).
✔️ Price: The CSL DD is cheaper, but it is not PlayStation compatible.
✔️ Design: They are almost identical, but the GT DD Pro has blue details and the PlayStation logo.
📌 Quick conclusion: If you play on PC or Xbox, the CSL DD is cheaper and offers the same. If you need PlayStation, then the GT DD Pro is the only option.
Our Verdict
In our opinion, the choice depends on whether you are going to use it on Playstation, PC or XBOX. If you are going to use it on PS4 or PS5 you have no choice but to buy the Fanatec DD Pro. Also if you want to play Gran Turismo 7, you have to play with the GT DD Pro.
On the other hand if you are going to use it on PC or XBOX we recommend the Fanatec CSL DD as it is exactly the same base with the same strength but cheaper.
The only difference is a chip in the base that makes it PS compatible.
Both bases have a maximum power of 8 Nm which is achieved with the boost kit.
Here is a summary of the features:
- Torque:
- DD Pro: 5 N m extendable up to 8Nm with boost kit.
- CSL DD: 5 N m extendable up to 8Nm with boost kit.
- Feedback
- DD Pro: Force feedback direct drive that transmits force directly to the steering wheel without gears.
- CSL DD: Force feedback DD.
- Platforms:
- DD Pro: PC, PS5 and PS4, XBOX Series S|X and One.
- CSL DD: PC and XBOX Series S|X and One.
- Price:
- DD Pro: $699
- CSL DD: Price for a complete 5Nm kit is 569$ (Fanatec CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race)
GT DD Pro vs CSL DD Price Comparison
To compare the prices of the DD Pro and the CSL DD, we will take the Fanatec GT DD Pro 8Nm and the Fanatec CSL DD QR2 8Nm Ready2Race which comes with steering wheel and pedals.
Prices of the steering wheels:
- Fanatec CSL DD QR2 (5 Nm) Ready2Race: 399€.
- Fanatec CSL DD QR2 (8 Nm) Ready2Race: 499€.
- Fanatec GT DD Pro (5 Nm): 699€.
- Fanatec GT DD Pro (8 Nm): 799€.
As you can see the price difference is 300€, which is a huge amount considering that it is the same base and the same pedals.
It is true that the steering wheel is different and that of the GT is much better than the one that comes with the CSL DD, but that does not justify the high price difference.
If you buy the CSL DD you could also buy another F1 hoop such as the Fanatec MClaren GT3 for 200€ extra and it would still be cheaper.
Driving experience and force feedback
🔸 Driving sensations
Both steering wheels offer a very realistic experience, with fluid, detailed and powerful force feedback. You can feel every bump, surface change and vibration as you go over the pianos, enhancing immersion.
🔸 Is the Boost Kit worth it?
Yes, no doubt. The 5 Nm torque can fall short, especially in games like Assetto Corsa Competizione or iRacing, where steering wheel force affects precision. With the Boost Kit (8 Nm), the force feedback feels much more powerful and detailed.
Fanatec DD Extreme vs DD Pro hoops
As you can see the Fanatec CSL DD hoop is simpler than the GT DD Pro, but still works very well and has several configurable buttons to which you can assign various functionalities depending on each game.
The GT DD Pro ring has better quality than the CSL DD and is specifically designed for Playstation. It has the typical PS4 and PS5 buttons, and is especially designed for the Gran Turismo game. But if you play other games it also works very well.
If you don’t like the Fanatec CSL DD hoop you can buy the 8Nm CSL DD base separately and then add pedals and hoop. A great hoop and pedal combination is the Fanatec Formula 2.5 hoop and Fanatec V3 pedals.

Pedals and accessories: What are the options?
🔸 Pedals included
Both models come with CSL Pedals, which are fine to start with, but your brake does not use Load Cell, which can affect accuracy under hard braking.

Where to buy?
In case you decide to buy one or the other, it is important to choose well where to buy it. In any case, I regret to tell you that there are not many websites that sell these steering wheels, so you will have to go to the page Fanatec official website.
But well I have bought on this page and I have not had any problems. Don’t be scared if you see it in English, you can right click on it and translate it to Spanish.
