In this article we will make a comparison of the Fanatec CSL DD vs Moza R3 Bundle. We will analyze the complete packages including hoop and pedals. We have used the Fanatec CSL DD QR2 Ready2Race and the Moza R3 Bundle Pack.
Comparison Chart – Moza R3 vs Fanatec CSL DD
As for the size of the bases, the one for the Moza R3 is smaller than the one for the Fanatec CSL DD.
The most notable difference between these flywheels is the strength of the force feedback. Although both bases feature direct drive technology, the CSL DD offers a higher force of 5 Nm while the R3 has 3.9 Nm of maximum torque.
It is a difference of only 1.1 Nm but when it comes to play and feel the details of the track it is noticeable.
Both wheels are compatible on both PC and XBOX, but are not compatible with Playstation. Moza does not offer PS5 compatible steering wheels, but Fanatec does have some, such as the Fanatec GT DD Pro which is very similar to the CSL DD.
Here is a summary of the features:
- Torque:
- CSL DD: 5 N m extendable up to 8Nm with boost kit.
- R3: 3.9 N m.
- Feedback
- Both: Force feedback direct drive which is the best technology for simracing steering wheels.
- Flywheel diameter:
- CSL DD: 30 cm diameter.
- R3: 28 cm diameter
- Platforms:

- R3: Compatible with XBOX and PC.

Our Verdict
Under our point of view, the Base Moza R3 and Fanatec CSL DD are very similar, but the CSL DD offers an extra point of strength that makes the difference when driving them. The truth is that they are only 1.1 NM but they are noticeable.
In addition, if in the future you run short with Fanatec you can buy the Boost Kit 180 that increases the force to 8 Nm and is already a real blast.
Considering that the current price is the same, about 399$, we will stick with the Fanatec CSL DD.
Outstanding Common Features:
- Pedals: The pedals are similar in both packages, constructed of metal. Clutch pedal not included.
- Both: both flywheels are excellent value for money and very easy to set up.
Fanatec BMW vs Moza steering wheels
As you can see in the picturethe Fanatec hoop is a little bigger than the Moza one, 30 cm vs 28 cm.
From my experience of years playing, the ideal diameter for me is about 32 cm, so in this aspect I like the Fanatec CSL DD better.
The rim of the Moza R3 is D-shaped while the CSL DD is circular.
As for the buttons, it should be noted that the Moza has more buttons, so if you are one of those who like to configure every detail of the car in steering wheel is more versatile.
Fanatec ‘s buttons are few but well distributed so that they can be operated quickly with your finger without releasing the steering wheel.
Both steering wheels are upholstered in leather and the paddle shifter feels very smooth and precise.
As for thequick release (to remove and put on the ring), both work very well, although the Moza ES is one of the best available.
Finally, the Fanatec hoop has a small LED display, which is used to visualize the speed, revolutions or the gear you are in.
Moza R3 vs CSL DD Which one has better pedals?
The pedal bases that are standard in the package look very similar. They do have one major difference though.
In the case of the Moza R3 pedals the pedal faces are metal, while in Fanatec they are plastic, so I like the Moza pedals better.
Both use Hall sensors to measure your acceleration and braking.
In terms of operation, both work well, they are quite basic, but the good thing about them is that you can change them in the future for ones with a load cell and you will notice an abysmal difference.
Force Feedback To Test
The driving sensation of the Moza and the Fanatec are not comparable, the Fanatec has more power and detail. Although I have to say the Moza R3 has surprised me, I was expecting less power with its 3.9 Nm but they work very well.
But in my personal opinion I’ll stick with the Fanatec CSL DD, or I felt more accurate and with a little more feedback strength.
I have read comments saying that they have had problems with Moza’s quick release. Personally, I did not have any problems.
Fanatec CSL DD vs Moza R3: Final Recommendation
Fanatec CSL DD vs Moza R3? Whatever your final choice is, it must be said that both simracing steering wheels are very good. Some users prefer Fanatec CSL DD and others Moza R3.
In my case, I prefer Fanatec CSL DD because for the same price you get a steering wheel with more power and fully configurable.
One of the advantages of these two steering wheels is that they are fully configurable, so you can upgrade the rim and pedals. Or you can even add a manual H-gearbox, which greatly enhances the gaming experience.
As for where to buy the steering wheel I recommend you look at the Spanish page of Moza and Fanatec, which offer shipping and return guarantees.
Something that is very important in case you have failures with the simracing base after several months of use.
