The Logitech G RS50 is the big news of the year 2025, it is the new Logitech direct drive steering wheel with 8 Nm of force. And the Thrustmaster T598 has also just been released with 5 Nm of force and peaks up to 10 Nm with the overdrive.

It seems that Thrustmaster and Logitech have agreed to release their direct drive steering wheels at the same time. Now, which of the two is better? In this article I analyze all the key aspects of these two flyers.

If we look at the comparison table above, we can see that they have very similar features. Both are compatible with Playstation, PC and XBOX. Although by force we see that the Logitech RS50 wins the game.

But what are the differences?

The Logitech G RS50 steering wheel, has the 8Nm base, if you want to read more about this Simracing base we have written an article -> Logitech G RS50

Our Verdict

In my case I opt for the Thrustmaster T598. The main reason is the price. The Thrustmaster T598 has a very good price below 500$ the complete kit while the Logitech costs 699$ without pedals, so the complete kit can go to 800$… it seems to me a very big price difference considering that there is not so much difference in driving.

It is clear that the Logitech G RS50 is a little better, you can feel that it has a little more power and if you buy the RS pedals with load cell the experience improves a lot. If you can afford it go for the Logitech.

Anyway my favorite is still the 8Nm Fanatec DD Pro a little cheaper than the Logitech and a little more expensive than the Thrustmaster.

As for the platforms on which each wheel works, both are compatible with Playstation, XBOX and PC. Note that for XBOX on Logitech you need a wheel hub for XBOX for it to work. This adds an extra price to be able to play on XBOX.

Here is a summary of the features:

  1. Torque:
    • T598: 5 N m with pulses up to 10 Nm
    • RS 50: 8 N m.
  2. Feedback
    • T598: Force feedback direct drive that transmits power directly to the flywheel without gears.
    • RS 50: Force feedback direct drive (DD).
  3. Platforms:
    • T598: PC, PS5, PS4 and XBOX.
    • RS 50: PC, PS5 and PS4 and XBOX (with wheel hub for XBOX).
  4. Price:
    • T598: 499$ with pedals.
    • RS 50: The price is 669$ without pedals(RS pedals for 150$).

I’ve tested the Logitech G RS50 and the Thrustmaster T598, and the truth is that they are two very different steering wheels in sensations. With the RS50 what struck me most was how easy it is to plug it in and start racing: the 8 Nm feel solid, without strange peaks, and on top of that the TrueForce gives you a tremendous plus in compatible games. You feel the engine, the vibrations of the asphalt, the curbs… it’s like having an extra layer of realism that engages a lot, although of course, not all games support it.

The T598 goes a different way. At the beginning it has a stable 5 Nm, but when things get intense it gets peaks of up to 10 Nm and then it really feels wilder. The axial motor it uses makes everything go smoothly, without those mechanical jumps typical of some direct drives, and in long sessions it is appreciated because it does not tire you so much. Of course, you have to spend time adjusting parameters, because from the factory it can feel a bit dull or too abrupt.

As for the hoop, the T598’s hoop is good, but it is made of plastic and feels a bit flexible if you hit it hard. The RS50, on the other hand, transmits more solidity, with materials and finishes that give more confidence.

In short: the RS50 seems more polished and “plug and play” to me, while the T598 is more raw and technical, with that extra power at key moments. If you want something easy and very immersive with TrueForce, I’ll stick with Logitech;

In terms of driving I’ll take the RS50, very good sensations. The T598 is a little bit below, but there is not much difference.

In this section I do have a clear winner. The Logitech RS pedals with load cell are obviously better, but they cost 150$ extra.

Logitech RS Pedals

  • The Logitech RS pedals are very solid from the very first moment: the structure is metallic, heavy and well seated.
  • What makes the difference is the load cell brake: the pressure you exert with your foot becomes a progressive and realistic sensation, very similar to that of a real car. This allows you to brake with much more precision and consistency, especially in more technical simulators such as iRacing or ACC.
  • The throttle uses Hall effect sensors, which gives them smoothness and great durability without risk of premature mechanical wear.
  • Overall, they feel like a robust piece of kit, built to last and to give confidence at every turn.

Thrustmaster T598 Pedals

  • The pedals that accompany the T598 are good, but not at the same level. The structure is correct and they offer good stability, although with a simpler design.
  • The brake works by potentiometer, not by load cell, which makes the response more dependent on position than on the force applied. In practice, this means that it costs more to nail consistent braking lap after lap.
  • The overall feel is decent, but compared to the RS, it feels more basic and less realistic.

The T598 pedals are functional and sufficient to start with, but if you are looking for precision and realism in braking, the Logitech RS are a step above thanks to the load cell. I personally found them more reliable, especially on technical tracks where braking is everything.

Logitech RS Round Wheel (for RS50)

  • Diameter: ≈ 291 mm (≈ 29.1 cm).
  • Weight: ≈ 662 g
  • Materials: high performance silicone synthetic leather + low carbon aluminum structure.
  • Robust grip profile: firm grip without hand slippage.
  • Fewer buttons but includes rotary encoders (to quickly adjust car parameters) as part of the modular philosophy of the RS system.

Thrustmaster T598 – “Sportcar” Ring

  • Diameter: ≈ 11.8 in./30 cm.
  • Weight of the hoop: the detachable hoop is mentioned as “extremely light” (≈ 811 g for the hoop + its components).
  • Coating: rubber grips to improve grip.
  • Buttons and functionalities: many buttons, encoders/multifunction, magnetic levers (Mag-Shift) behind the hoop.

🎯 Sensations and comparison in use.

  • The RS50 / RS Round Wheel rim conveys a solid feel from the first turn. The thickness of the grip gives confidence and allows fine control even in aggressive cornering. I don’t notice any flex or give under lateral force, which gives me stability especially when cornering or exiting corners with a lot of grip.
  • In contrast, the T598 hoop feels lighter and more “agile”, which has its advantages: fast movements, feeling of speed, this is because it has less force.
  • As for grip: the RS with its synthetic leather offers a more premium feel, less sweaty, more grippy even in long sessions. The T598 with rubber/coating does a good job, but when my hands get a bit sweaty I notice that it gives more (I recommend using simracing gloves.
  • On buttons and quick control: here the Logitech has the advantage in terms of number of buttons and options on the ring (rotary, mag-shift), which allows you to have many functions at hand without touching the steering wheel/base menu. The T598 bets for a more minimalist but effective interface, with fewer buttons but more quality in what it offers.

Logitech G RS50 vs Thrustmaster T598: Final Recommendation

Logitech G RS50 vs Thrustmaster T598? I have to admit that in this case the choice is easy. The Logitech RS50 is a notch above the Thrusmtaster T598.

Both steering wheels are a quality choice and work perfectly. The only question I have is how durable they will be since they are new. We already know that the first versions of the steering wheels usually have problems that are solved over time.

As for the price the logitech is about 300$ more expensive and for this reason I would choose the Thrustmaster T598, there is not much difference.

In any case you may be interested in the Fanatec DD Pro 8 Nm which is very similar to the Logitech.

In case you decide to buy one or the other, it is important to choose well where to buy it. In the case of Logitech you can currently only buy it on the official website and they have long shipping delays. You will have to wait for it to be distributed on Amazon or other websites.

The Thrustmaster T598 can be purchased on Amazon or Simufy. Remember that in simufy we have a 3% discount with our code.

If you opt for Fanatec, you can buy it at the Fanatec official website. I have always bought from this site and have had no problems. Don’t be scared if you see it in English, you can right click on the mouse and translate it to Spanish.
