After testing both steering wheels, I can say that one has a clear advantage over the other. The two most important differences are:

1️⃣ Moza R3 uses Direct Drive technology, which means that the motor power is transferred directly to the hoop. In contrast, the T300 uses a gear and belt system that, although functional, is becoming obsolete.

2️⃣ The force feedback of the Moza R3 is more powerful, at 3.9 Nm compared to about 3 Nm for the T300. This difference is very noticeable when driving, as the Moza offers a higher level of detail and precision in steering response.

Flywheel hoops

As you can see in the pictures, the Thrustmaster T300 has the typical Playstation buttons.
This is because the T300 is more designed for Playstation gaming while the Moza is designed for Xbox or PC gaming.

Obviously if you play on PC you can’t buy the Moza R3, if you want a direct drive you would have to go for the Fanatec GT DD Pro.

In terms of hoop quality, both are of good quality. The Moza R3 has PU ISF grips, made of synthetic polyurethane. While the T300 has a slightly better finish, I like the steering wheel grip better.

As for the quick release, the Moza system is spectacular, it works perfectly and you can change the rim in a second. The thrustmaster one is easy to change with a screw system, but I’m not so convinced.

It should be noted that both rings can be changed and improved.

Force feedback

This is where the Moza R3 really shines. The driving feel is much more realistic and detailed thanks to its Direct Drive system, which allows you to feel every vibration, bump and loss of grip more clearly.

🔹 My personal experience: After testing both steering wheels, I noticed that the T300 had a softer, but less precise force feedback. With the Moza R3, the response is much stronger and sharper, which allowed me to improve my cornering control and react better to changes in the track.

The T300 is still a decent steering wheel, but its gear and belt system makes the response not so immediate. This can affect the feeling of realism, especially in racing cars where every detail counts.

Pedals: Moza R3 vs Thrustmaster T300 RS GT

This is where the Thrustmaster T300 takes a small advantage. The T300 RS GT pack includes the T3PA pedals, which have clutch, brake and throttle. They are basic pedals, but they work well to start with.

The Moza R3, on the other hand, includes clutchless pedals. Although the quality is good, the lack of a clutch can be a drawback if you plan to drive manual cars.

🔹 My personal experience: The Moza pedals are solid and accurate, but I liked having the clutch in the T300 pack. However, both packs allow you to upgrade the pedals, so if you want to upgrade in the future, you can switch to more advanced options.

Price and Value for Money

Here comes the big surprise: the Moza R3 currently costs 329€, making it cheaper than the T300!

🔹 My personal experience: For this price, the Moza R3 seems to me a better buy. It offers Direct Drive technology, more power and a better driving feel for the same price as the T300, which has an older system.

If you can afford to spend a little more, it might be worth considering the Moza R5, which costs €100 more, but has a force of 5.5 Nm instead of 3.9 Nm. This makes it an even more attractive option for those looking for more realism.
