Comparison Table – Key Differences
The Thrustmaster T598 is Thrustmaster’s first direct drive wheel, featuring 5 Nm with over boost while the Moza R5 has a maximum force of 5.5 Nm.
Let’s test both flywheels, which one actually has more strength?
The main difference between these two wheels is that the T598 is compatible with Playstation, both PS5 and PS4, so if you have Play, you’ll have to go to the Thrustmaster.

Thrustmaster T598 vs Moza R5
Our Verdict
In my opinion I like the Moza R5 better. The main reason is the FFB, in the Moza is stronger and more aggressive, the T598 is softer and although it has a lot of detail, for my driving style I prefer the Moza R5.
Also both simracing bases have a very similar price so if I had to choose one I would buy the Moza R5.
The build quality of both wheels is very good, both Moza and Thrustmaster have a long history in the world of simracing and makes quality and long lasting wheels.
As for the platforms on which each wheel works, the Moza is not Playstation compatible, while the Thrustmaster T598 is compatible on both PS5 and PS4, and I believe PS3 as well.

Flywheel hoops
As for the hoops, as you can see they are both pretty basic. They are fine overall, but I like the Thrustmaster hoop a little better for looks and simplicity.
Also, the T598 cams are harder, which for upshifting and downshifting is easier from my point of view.
I have tested it in the F1 24 with the Ferrari F488 GT3 rim, which is a GTs steering wheel. And the truth is that the first thing that strikes you is the low weight of the rim.
The quality of the F488 hoop is very high, finished with carbon fiber, the cams are hard, which I personally like the most and it has a lot of buttons, including a kind of jostick near the steering wheel grip, so they are very well placed.
The ring that comes with the T598 kit is more basic than the Ferrari one, but it is good, good quality, the cams are hard, which is great for fast downshifts.
If you click on the image you can go to see the price of the F488 GT3 hoop, although it is not very cheap.
Force feedback
The force feedback of the thrustmaster T598 feels quite a bit smoother than that of the Moza R5.
Although they have the same maximum force of 5Nm, the T598 is more subtle, but this is not a problem because the truth is that it has very good quality in the small details, so handling the car becomes very intuitive.
The Moza R5 has a more aggressive force feedback, both understeer and oversteer feel stronger and in my point of view you react faster to avoid spinning.
For this reason I’m going for the Moza R5, the Thrustmaster doesn’t seem to have as much power (maybe it’s a configuration thing, but I don’t think so).
I like the pedals on the T598 a lot too, the brake force is pretty good. They are quite a bit better than the ones that come on the T300 RS.
I was able to adapt to the steering wheel in a couple of laps and do the same times I do with the Fanatec Podium, which is quite a bit better than this one.
Thrustmaster T598 vs Moza R5: Final Recommendation
Thrustmaster T598 vs Moza R5? Our recommendation is to buy the Moza R5, the FFB has more power and they are practically the same price.
In case you decide to buy one or the other, it is important to choose well where to buy it.
In the case of the Moza R5 you can buy it in Simufy or Moza. In my experience Moza is a little cheaper, but it is not shipped from Spain.
If you use Moza’ s website you may have to pay a little more, but you will be sure to have support in English and the steering wheel will probably arrive sooner.
In any case, use my links, I get a small commission and so I can continue to create content.
