In this article we analyze the Thrustmaster T598 vs. T-GT II.
Comparison Table – Key Differences
The Thrustmaster T598 is Thrustmaster’s first DD wheel, while the TG-T II is a force feedback motor with gears, so the technology of the new T598 is better than that of the TG-T II.
As for power, from what I have tested, the TG-T 2 has more power. The T598 has 5Nm and the TGT2 although it doesn’t say it is also more than 5 of maximum torque.
It should be noted that both the Thrustmaster T-GT II and T598 are compatible with both Playstation and PC.

Our Verdict
Although the TGT II has more power than the T598, both offer interesting experiences. I have tested them both in Gran Turismo 7 and the truth is that I like the sensations that the TG-T II transmits better.
In the T598 Case it is a little softer and I think I am missing some information on the track.
During my testing, I tested sensitivity, friction and the new inertia settings. I noticed a noticeable improvement in the driving experience with the T598 after the most recent upgrade. Although the T598 is smoother and more refined, the TGT II offers a more forceful and connected feel.
Here is a summary of the features:

Flywheel hoops
On Thrustmaster T598 stands out especially when combined with the Hypercar Rim, which provides an exceptionally premium driving feel. This rim is ideal for track racing and significantly elevates the driving experience.
The design of the Hypercar Rim feels robust and very comfortable. Undoubtedly, it is a highly recommended option for those looking for precision and a quality feel at every turn.
As for the Thrustmaster TGT II, its base rim is smaller and less comfortable in comparison, which might require an upgrade to a larger rim, such as the Evo Racing Rim.
The latter, designed for rally games, is another excellent option that perfectly complements the TGT II base. However, it is important to note that purchasing the Evo Racing Rim is an additional cost of 300€, which significantly increases the investment needed to get the most out of the TGT II.
In general, if you opt for the T598, it already comes with a 30 cm diameter rim, which provides more stability and better control, especially in tight turns. On the other hand, although the TGT II offers a more “granular” and connected experience, its base rim limits the initial experience a bit, unless you invest in a larger rim.
Force feedback
When talking about force feedback, the T598 stands out for its smoothness and precise response, while the TGT II offers a more direct and “granular” feel.
Both have extreme driving profiles enabled, making them ideal for simulation. However, the T598 feels more premium and less physically demanding during long sessions.
the Thrustmaster TGT II, designed for Gran Turismo’s GT mode, includes a transducer at its base that provides additional haptic feedback, enhancing immersion.
However, it is important to mention that TGT II may feel more physically demanding due to its higher feedback strength.
In short, if you’re looking for a smoother, more refined and accessible experience, the T598 is a great choice, especially with its Hypercar Rim steering wheel, which greatly enhances the experience.
On the other hand, if you prefer a more punchy and connected feel, the TGT II may be an excellent choice, although the additional cost of upgrading the steering wheel and pedals needs to be considered.
Thrustmaster T598 vs TGT2: Final Recommendation
Thrustmaster T598 vs TGT2? Our recommendation is to buy the Thrustmaster T-GT II if you can afford it, it works much better even though it is not direct drive.
Both flyers are excellent choices, but my recommendations are:
- Thrustmaster T598: Ideal for those looking for an accessible, refined and value-for-money experience. For €499, you get a premium wheel and can invest in additional upgrades such as the Hypercar Rim.
- Thrustmaster TGT II: Recommended for those looking for a more direct and forceful feel, but requires more investment in accessories to reach its full potential.
